Michael Kors at NY Fashion Week

It seems as if Oscar de la Renta’s love for flowers and chiffon for SS15 was not one person’s stroke of genius, as Michael Kors has designed a spring-pretty floral-print collection, too. Staying true to his colours, it was less dainty and delicate than the former, but the clothes on the catwalk definitely had you rethinking your AW14 wardrobe and wishing you could trend these designs a little earlier than originally intended.

This collection was sophisticated in a different way, in more of a quirky ‘working girl’ style, with midi skirts in floral chiffon or crop tops and midi skirts co-ords, as seen above. The clothes were all crisp and fitted, as was demonstrated by the crisp shirts and fitted white capri pants, cowl-neck jumpers and prim and pretty sundresses. It had an element of sports luxe about it but the right touch of softness and femininity.

Kors also catwalked a smart casual look for menswear, with two male models exhibiting rolled-up jeans, one with a navy breton tee, the other donning an ivory drawstring hoody. Casual but cool and collected. I was really impressed to see these two looks on the runway, as, despite being a female who is primarily interested in and awed by female fashion, I do sympathise with men who are denied an equal level of guidance on style.

The predominant colour scheme comprised of yellow, white, navy blue and stone grey. Although the navy blue jumpsuit and midi dress with the blush pink floral print were adorable, my choice pick would be the sun-yellow shift dress, which closely resembled a Paddington Bear-esque raincoat, with a structured collar and tan duffle straps. Pair that dress with tan boat shoes or brogues, wedges or even combat boots and you have yourself an androgynous look that the Man Repeller herself would be proud of.
