You might recognise the name of this new design collection, as it is the sister line of Giambattista Valli. I was really excited to view this show, as it was hopefully going to cater for the younger girl, with the same floral prints and pretty dresses, but in a cuter, more youthful style. And the collection was on point.
Full length robes were replaced by chiffon babydolls, which hung over spotty tights. It was so adorable and so my style. Bright full-sleeved dresses were paired with strappy peep toe heels in this fresh SS15 collection, whilst other dresses had volume and ruffles on top but a neat A-line skirt. It was obvious that the same creative brilliance was behind the designs, but it was fun without losing sophistication.
The stitching was delicate and the designs were innocent. This white chiffon playsuit with black and metallic detail is both elegant but not too traditional for the younger line’s ideal audience. I love it as it embodies the monochrome beauty of Chanel but has a navajo essence to it. I would buy it in a heartbeat. The tie-front A-line dress is the same. The spotty tights really keep the fun feeling and youth spirit alive in this collection.
This SS15 collection also took texture to the next level. Forget fringing, feathers is where it is at. And in this perfect dew-green colour, it couldn’t scream spring collection more, even if it tried. The satin baby-pink skater dresses were also notable, as they were seriously cute, but styled up with the black colour. These two pieces really reminded me of a younger Oscar de la Renta collection, too. The spotty tights have stayed on all of the models throughout this collection and work really well with every look.
Appliqué florals were a fabulous finish to the show. The texture, volume and 3-D nature of it all screamed SS15 and even though it was mostly in monochrome, with one design having black spotty tights, it still felt apt for spring. I loved the shorts aspect of the first two looks, as well as the size of the flowers, which both added some maturity to the innocence of florals. The crochet white dress at the end was a cute and girly addition to the collection and something every girl will want to get her hands on, ready for the good weather. The perfect white dress is hard to find but for now, look no further.
